Idiots and Food, the makings of Saturday Night

"Ah, that's alright, I'm used to having my head patted," the mage looked at the small blonde who was sipping her hot chocolate looking as innocent as possible.

"What?" she asked, cutely.

Kitty giggled in her seat, watching the exchange, while Slifer finished up the cooking, plating the food he made. Stretching her shoulders until they popped, Kitty rested her elbows on the table to look at her friends.

"As is Slifer, though I pet him more than pat him. So, what would you guys like to do today? I may punch in my timecard at work today, just to keep myself in shape. I could show you around my job if you want. Dragon taming isn't as hard as it looks." She said with a wink as Slifer set the plates down in front of everyone, sitting next to Kitty and digging into his own food while he draped his tail on her shoulders.

Shelly leant over to pat the nearest bit of red scales. "That sounds good. I wouldn't mind checking it out."

Chaos looked worried for a bit; watched as the blonde began to eat her breakfast. "As long as you don't get hurt..."

She snorted. "I'm made of stronger stuff than that; you worrywart."

Kitty chuckled as Slifer crooned at Ashely's touch, relaxed by the gesture, while Kitty swallowed the bit of food she had been eating.

"You can come with us if you like. See, this is how my part of the job works." She said as Slifer pulled out a sheet of paper and a pen. Kitty took the pen and moved her plate aside to scribble something on the paper, pushing it over to Chaos and Ashely and pointing at various parts of her drawing.

"This circle right here is the pit, and that is where I fight the dragons and dinosaurs. When we get a troublesome creature in, we chain it up and drag into the pit, and then a tamer, or a team of tamers, enters shortly after. We set up a barrier around the pit to protect watchers, who sit in the stands up here. Then the chains are removed and the creature is free to rampage and nine times out of ten, they`ll just crash into the walls and the barrier." She explained, taking a sip of her drink.

"However, my job as a tamer is to make sure they don't hit the barrier too much. The spellcasters who set up the barrier have to constantly supply energy to it, and every time the barrier deflects something, it takes a little bit more energy out of them. If the creature we tamers are fighting hit the barrier too much, then our spellcasters will go unconscious and the barrier will go down, at which point all the rampaging creature has to do is jump and they`ll get loose in the city, which is what you saw yesterday Chaos." She said, chuckling and leaning back.

"It doesn't happen to me very often, when I go into the pit I usually have a dark magician variation set up the barrier, and your kind has a lot of stamina for things like this." She said, munching on a strip of bacon.

Shelly giggled slightly at Slifer's crooning, liking the noise before she leant over to look at the drawing as Chaos did.

They both listened as Kitty explained and Chaos nodded at the last part.

"Yes, that's true, we do; I think that's because we're some of the strongest in regards to the cards."

Shelly nodded. "It sounds interesting at least."

"In fact," Chaos continued. "I can always jump in and help with the barrier if you need me to. It would make me feel better if you allowed that," he cast another look towards the small blonde who had gone back to her breakfast and petting the red dragon.

Kitty beamed at Chaos as she set down her half-eaten strip of bacon while Slifer yawned and poked Kitty in the shoulder.

"Pal would probably like that. That dragon yesterday was huge, I`m surprised breaking his barrier didn't send him to the graveyard." Kitty rolled her eyes as she nodded at Chaos.

"That would be fine, just don't put too much into it. I can't guarantee it`ll be easy, but...Oh!" She piped up, standing up from her seat and exiting the kitchen while Slifer watched.

"Try under the bed!" He shouted after her, knowing exactly what she was doing.

Chaos nodded and ate some more of his breakfast before both the Magician and the blonde watched her in confusion as she left.

"What on earth?" Shelly muttered.

Slifer chuckled as they waited for Kitty to come back.

"Only dragons are able to break a dark magician barrier. This is because we tend to store a lot of our power in our scales, and the smart ones use that to try and counteract the spells used to restrain them. Kitty is going to get one of my shed scales for you to use as a sort of backup." He explained as Kitty came back, holding two large red plates. She grabbed a rucksack from a supply closet just outside the kitchen and put the scales inside, setting the bag next to Chaos.

"There you go. Dragon scales hold a lot of power, and god dragon scales hold massive amounts. Use these to supplement your magic in case things get too crazy down there. The only predictable thing about my job is it's unpredictability, so I want to make sure you're prepared." She said, sitting back down and tapping Slifer, who released one of his wings and draped it around her shoulder.

"Ahhh," Chaos said, nodding. "Alright, that makes perfect sense. Cheers."

"What type of creatures do you get in?" Shelly asked. "Just big ones, or are there smaller ones that need taming too?"

Kitty gently stroked the wingbone on her shoulder as she thought about Ashely's question.

"Well, most of the time we get dragons and dinos, but we do get furry things from time to time. I would say most of our clients are huge, just because that's the nature of such creatures, and smaller ones don't need a professional tamer to calm them down. I did get to play with a petit dragon once though, those things are so adorable when they are mad." She said, giggling while Slifer shot her a jealous look.

"Come off it, you KNOW their squeaking is cute! Plus, they are tiny, my one weakness!" She pouted at Slifer while he rolled his eyes.

"Yeah yeah. Anyway, the smallest creature the tamers had to deal with was a kumouri dragon, which is slightly bigger than the Serpent Night Dragon. Kitty gets all the big ones though, she's too good at what she does to waste on the small ones. The smallest she works with could easily dwarf you Chaos." He said with a chuckle.

Chaos grinned slightly and chuckled, laughing more at Shelly's coos in regards to the small Petit Dragons and their squeaking.

"I swear, all girls have this thing about small, cute things," he said.

Slifer winked at Chaos as he gently rubbed Kitty's neck.

"Yes well, you and I need to have a chat sometime about that." He said when Kitty moaned, an audible pop filling the air.

"There we go." Said the dragon as he stood up, collecting everyone's plates and setting them in the sink. He leaned against a wall and looked at the group while Kitty recovered from the massage. She blinked several times before looking at Chaos and Ashely.

"You guys ready to go or is there something you need to do at home or something?" She asked, tilting her head.

Chaos grinned at Slifer.

"I think we're ready to go," Shelly said, looking at Chaos for confirmation.

The mage nodded.

With a smile, Kitty stood up and led the group outside, Kitty grabbing Chaos' scales as they waited for Slifer to transform. The red dragon emerged from his place in the clouds and quickly landed, curling around the building and laying his head down.

"So, how do you want to do this? Ride on my neck or in my upper mouth?" He asked, looking at his friends.

"When I was little, when we had to go places, Slifer carried me in his upper mouth." She said to her friends.

"Whichever is easier and less annoying for you Slifer," Shelly said, patting the serpent again affectionately.

Chaos nodded. "I can deal with either."
